Otter defense yields two goals in closing minutes

BOX SCORE LA JOLLA, Calif. – Leading 1-0 with 10 minutes to play, the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team surrendered two goals as No. 18 UC San Diego earned a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon.

The Otters (9-5-2, 7-5-2 CCAA) fall into second place in the CCAA North Division, one point behind Sonoma State (defeated Cal State Stanislaus 2-1).

Senior Servando Perez's (Guadalupe/Righetti HS) goal in the 27th minute put CSUMB on the board. Freshman Marco Rangel  (Hollister/San Benito HS) fed the ball from right and Perez headed it into the left corner.

UCSD's Andisheh Bagheri knocked in a pair of goals in less than a minute with Alessandro Canale recording both assists.

With UCSD having a 17-7 shot advantage, sophomore Otter keeper Evan Drake (Sacarmento/El Camino HS) stopped five shots on frame.

CSUMB wraps up its road schedule on Friday, Nov. 1, traveling to San Francisco State to face the Gators at 12:30 p.m.
