BOX SCORE LOS ANGELES – The Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team concluded its eight-match road trip with a three-set heartbreaking loss (25-22, 25-22, 25-22) to Cal State L.A. Saturday night at The Eagles Nest.
"We put ourselves in a position to win all three sets and that is a positive step for this young group," said Head Coach
Jody Garry. "We have grown in every match and the team is staying together and empowered by what they can accomplish."
One of the ways the Otters (6-6, 0-4 CCAA) is improving is with their attack percentage. CSUMB hit .250, a season-best against a conference opponent . But CSULA (5-6, 3-1 CCAA) came out on fire, registering a season-high .336.
Sophomore
Julia Ashen did it again, tallying her second consecutive double-double with 10 digs and a match-high 16 kills. Freshmen
Jessica Malcolm and
Victoria Clardy added nine and eight kills, respectively. Freshman
Rachel Cookus reached double-figures for the seventh time this season with a team-best 12 digs.
The Otters return to the Kelp Bed Friday, Sept. 28, hosting the Lumberjacks of Humboldt State at 7 p.m.
