BOX SCORE
CARSON, Calif. — Winning on the road in the California Collegiate Athletic Association is never easy. When you're having trouble finding the back of the net, that task becomes well–nigh impossible.

Friday night in Carson, the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team went toe–to–toe with perennial contender Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Otters played 86 consecutive minutes of airtight defense, but Toro goals in the third and 89th minutes proved too much for the struggling Otter offense to overcome in a 2–0 setback.

CSUMB (0–5–0, 0–4–0 CCAA) managed seven shots in the match, but rarely called Toro goalkeeper Trey Mitchell to action as he needed to make just three saves to earn the clean sheet. CSUDH (2–4–2, 2–3–0), meanwhile, put seven of its 17 shots on frame with Otter senior Cory Calder making five saves to help keep the Otters close.

The Toros struck first before the match was three minutes old when Jio Santana finished a series of one–touch passes from Miguel Vazquez and Aaron Salazar. With the match still in the balance, Salazar ran on to a through ball and finished with 62 ticks remaining to account for the final margin.

The Otters will look for their first road goal and first win of the season Sunday when they head up I–710 to take on Cal State L.A. Kick–off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
