SAN FRANCISCO — The Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team met with a disappoiting end to their Bay area roadtrip, falling at San Francisco State 25–21, 25–11, 25–20 Saturday night in The Swamp.
CSUMB (6–4, 0–2 CCAA) ran into a hot SFSU team (7–2, 2–0) which hit .333 or better in all three sets. By comparision, the Otters hit just .045 after a solid .250 start to the match.
“They were low error but not not great at any one thing,” said CSUMB Head Coach
Jody Garry. “We were suprisingly very high and very low. We need to work on consistency in all areas.”
Individually, sophomore outside hitter
Julia Ashen was the only attacker for either to to reach double figures, finishing with 14 kills. Middle blocker
Lily Staight added six kills and a .308 attack percentage. Freshman libero
Rachel Cookus collected a match–high 15 digs.
The Otters will continue their eight–match roadtrip Friday and Saturday with matches at Cal State Dominguez Hills (Sept. 21) and Cal State L.A. (Sept. 22)
