BOX SCORE
CHICO, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team continues searching for the magic formula in 2012 after dropping its second consecutive one–goal decision in a 1–0 loss at Chico State Friday night at the University Soccer Stadium.
The Otters were shutout for the second time in three games, just one game after putting three behind Sonoma State on Sept. 7.
Chico (3–2–0, 2–1–0 CCAA) scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute when Luis Martinez took a Kramer Runeger feed and bounced a low shot inside the far post from 15 yards out. CSUMB (0–3–0, 0–2–0) put three shots on frame in the final half hour — two by senior forward
Max Brixey — but couldn't buy an equalizer.
Senior goalkeeper
Cory Calder made four saves to help keep the Otters in the game.
CSUMB returns to action Sunday with a 2 p.m. kickoff at Cal State Stanislaus.
