SEASIDE, Calif.
– Behind its best hitting performance of the season, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team swept Cal State Stanislaus, 25-11, 25-13, 25-16, Friday, at the Kelp Bed.

“I think this says a lot about the program and the culture we have here,” said Head Coach Jody Garry. “We struggled here at times but that is okay because the foundation is there and the training is there.  We talked both last year and this year about how we are going to finish.  This is how finishing strong looks like.”

Senior All-American outside hitter Rheann Fall (Elk Grove/St. Francis HS) registered her 13th double-double, finishing with 13 kills and 11 digs. Senior middle blocker Melanie Lashbrook (Truckee/Tahoe Truckee) added 10 kills on 20 attempts and two errors for a .400 clip.  Senior libero Dionna Lucas (Redlands/Arrowhead Christian Academy) tallied 15 digs while senior middle blocker Tiffaney Riggs (Vancouver, Wash/Heritage HS) racked up four blocks.

The Otters hit better than .300 each set, finishing with a .330 attack percentage while limiting the Warriors to a .063 clip.  CSUMB out blocked Cal State Stanislaus 7.0 to 4.0 and out dug the Warriors 57 to 42.

The Otters sprinted out to an 11-3 and never looked back, coasted to a 25-12 victory.  CSUMB hit a blazing .353 while holding the Warriors to a .054 clip.  Lashbrook was perfect, racking up five kills on five attempts. Fall and Lucas each tallied six digs.

CSUMB secured a 25-13 second-set victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match.  Fall notched four kills on eight errorless attempts for a .500 attack percentage.  Senior outside hitter Lauren Shacklock (Tehachapi/Tehachapi HS) chipped in three kills and teamed up with Riggs for two blocks. The Otters once again out hit the Warriors, .312 to .059.

The Warriors stayed close to CSUMB at the start of the third set before the Otters scored seven unanswered points to take a 19-9 lead.  The Otters went on to clinch the sweep with a 25-16 victory.  Fall and Lashbrook each registered five kills to lead the Otters to a .324 clip.

Cal State Stanislaus was led by Lianne Vicchio's eight kills and Jaclyn Pinasco's 11 digs.
