TURLOCK, Calif. — In a result that sent shock waves through the CCAA and NCAA West Region, Cal State Monterey Bay picked up an historic victory Friday night, defeating Cal State Stanislaus 1–0 before more than 1,300 fans at Warrior Stadium.
The win was the first–ever victory against a ranked opponent for the young CSUMB women's program. Stanislaus (7–4–4, 6–4–3 CCAA) entered the match ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Division II regional rankings.

Erin Reinke. “Marlina's goal was first class and Kendra made multiple saves to preserve the win. I'm so proud of the team for believing in themselves. It was a huge team win tonight.”
The Otters will look to earn consecutive wins for the first time this season when they head up Highway 99 to tackle Chico State Sunday at 11:30 a.m. CSUMB returns home to close out the 2011 campaign against Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills Oct. 28–30.
