SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team split a doubleheader Thursday with Academy of Art in non-conference action. Junior catcher #Shae Olds# hit a walk-off single in the eighth inning to win the nightcap, 3-2.
The Otters now stand at 9-3 overall, while holding a 7-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) record and the Urban Knights sit at 6-6-1.

CSUMB's offense failed to give junior starter
Diane Ortiz support after she pitched her third complete game of the season and gave up two hits while striking out 10 batters.
The lone run of the game came in the top of the fourth inning when AAU's Alana Aweau singled up the middle to score Shampayne Clay from third.
The Otters outhit the Urban Knights 5-2. Senior first baseman #Marisa Trujillo# led the Otters, going 2-for-3 at the plate with the game's only double.

The Otters' attack awoke early in the second game with senior #Jennifer Montez# scoring a first-inning run on a two-out double from Olds.
AAU took a 2-1 lead two innings later on a single by Andrea Hanchey and a double from Sierrah Garcia
CSUMB tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth on Montez's double to left field to score freshman #Angelina Orozco#.
Montez led off the eighth inning with a single through the left side. A sacrifice bunt by junior #Nicole Garcia# advanced Montez to second. Olds hit a walk-off single up the middle, scoring Montez for the game-winning run.
Garcia, the nightcap's starting pitcher, threw 2.2 innings and gave up two runs on seven hits. Sophomore #Jessica Moon# earned her second victory of the season after pitching 5.1 innings, giving up two hits and striking out five batters.
The Otters take seven days off before returning to CCAA play next weekend, hosting Cal State San Bernardino in a four-game series.
