CSUMB Baseball Falls To Cal Poly Pomona

SEASIDE, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team fell, 4-1 in a single game against Cal Poly Pomona in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match-up Saturday.

Pomona jumped out to an early lead stringing together two hits to be the first on the board with two runs.

The Broncos struck again in the bottom of the when senior Marcus Makia and junior Michael Neff repeated singles as done in the first. 

In the bottom of the fourth, #Jacob Flores# hit his second home run of the season over the left field fence putting the Otters on the board.

CSUMB put up a fight in the ninth inning starting with a single up the middle off the bat of freshmen catcher #Tyler Young#. Senior #Joey Friedman# singled to left field advancing Young to second. Senior #Ryan Chagonjian# singled through the right side advancing each runner. But the Otters were left stranded when two men struck out to end the game.

The Otters out hit the Broncos 7-5.

Junior #Scott Tully# pitched six complete innings for CSUMB.

The two teams face off at 12 p.m. Saturday for the conclusion of the CCAA action in Pomona.
