CSUMB Falls In Conference Opener

SEASIDE, Calif.
- The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team fell to Cal State San Bernardino in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season opener Friday afternoon, 16-1, at the Otter Baseball Field.

Senior right fielder #Ryan Chagonjian# went 2-for-3, with a double and the only Otter run scored. Freshmen #Nolan Murray# went 2-for-4 and one RBI while freshmen catcher #Tyler Young# finished 2-for-3. 

Chagonjian started off the bottom of the third with a hard hit double off the center field fence. Murray followed with a single to left center, scoring Chagonjian, before being thrown out at second base. 

The Otters started off strong and led 1-0 through the bottom of the fourth. 

The Coyotes tied the game up, in the top of the fifth with an unearned run. CSUSB went ahead and didn't look back, adding runs throughout the rest of the game.

The Otters were out-hit by the Coyotes in the opener, 15-7, while the CSUMB left runners on base in five innings. 

The two teams will meet once again in the CCAA double header on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Otter Baseball Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 11a.m.
