SEASIDE, Calif. - The Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team came out on fire tonight and pulled off a five-set victory over rival San Francisco State, 25-10, 22-25, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-12.
The Otters improved to 14-7 overall and 11-7 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play while the Gators fall to 12-11, 9-9 in conference action.
The Otters had their best hitting night so far this season, finishing with 66 kills, 16 errors and 161 attempts for a .311 attack percentage. In their opening set, the Otters hit an impressive .654 (17K, 0 E, 26 TA).
Junior #Rheann Fall# notched her twelfth double-double of the season with 29 kills and 12 digs. Junior #Melanie Lashbrook# set a new career-high with 19 kills and tied her best serving performance with four aces. She ended the night with a .438 attack percentage with five errors on 32 attempts. Also having a career-high performance was sophomore #Tori Taijeron# with her 18 digs.
The Otters held SF State to a .196 attack percentage by outblocking the Gators 10-4.
CSUMB returns to the court on Friday, Nov. 5 to welcome Sonoma State to the Kelp Bed. First serve is at 7 p.m.
