Final Results
GOODYEAR, Calif. – Led by sophomore #Darcy Lake# and junior #Cicilia Chudivan# who took second and third individually, the No. 15 Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team prevailed over a 18-team field after carding a 32-over par 608 at the Grand Canyon Invitational to capture its first team title of the year on Tuesday. The Otters claimed a 16-stroke victory over No. 13 Sonoma State, who came in second with a 624.
CSUMB made history on Monday by carding a program-best 12-over par 300, and followed it with a 20-over par 308 in the final round. Rounding out the top five were No. 12 St. Edward's University (625), No. 6 Tarleton State University (626) and No. 30 Chico State (628).
Currently ranked third in the region, the Otters finished higher than St. Edward's and Tarleton, who are ranked first and second respectively in the region.
Lake, who finished fourth at the Otter Invitational last weekend, once again led the Otters. She moved up one spot to take second overall after repeating yesterday's score of 2-over par 74 for a 4-over par 148. Chudivan finished in third place with a 5-over par 149 after also carding a 2-over par 74 in the final round. Teammate #Etivise Latu# rounded out the top-10, tying for ninth place after recording a 10-over par 154. Senior #Belinda Diamond# tied for 22nd with a 14-over par 158, while junior #Leticia Halas# shot an 18-over par 162 and tied for 45th.
CSUMB finished second among the teams in birdies with 15 and first in making par (112).
“The team played well,” said Otters head coach
Teri Greene. “I couldn't be more proud of them.
“It is nice to win at my alma mater.”
The Otters close out their regular season on April 20-21, at the Notre Dame de Namur University's Lady Argo West Coast Invitational in Brentwood.
