CAL POLY POMONA - DAY 1:
#Shea Davis# was perfect at the plate, a 4-for-4 performance, to lead the CSUMB baseball team to their first CCAA victory as well as sweep of the 2009 season on Saturday, Mar. 7.  The Otters nabbed the sweep over Cal Poly Pomona, 7-6 and 9-6 as their final scores. In the opener, the Otters tied the game in the seventh on #Andrew Marquardt#'s double and took the lead on a Broncos error. The Otters came out swinging in the seventh inning of the nightcap, recording five hits. Shea Davis got things started with a home run to tie the game at 4-4.  Marquardt and #Dan Barras# each hit RBI singles with #Ryan Chagonjian# driving in two runs on his single. Marquardt's double in the eighth scored another run to give the Otters a 9-4 advantage, but the Broncos attempted to rally by scoring two runs in the top of the ninth. Davis went 6-for-8 on the day with a home run and two doubles.  Marquardt and #Matt DeJesus# recorded five hits apiece in the two games. Starter #Norman Hebert# (9.0 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 3 SO) pitched a complete nine-inning game to record the victory. #Patrick McClain# (6.0 IP, 10 H, 5 SO, 2 BB) recorded five strikeouts in six inning and #Brian Callen# (3.0 IP, 2 H, 2 SO) entered in the seventh to claim the win. “Huge win for the program and even bigger for the players,” said Otters head coach Rich Aldrete. “They (CSUMB) have never quit.”

CAL POLY POMONA - DAY 2:
SEASIDE, Calif. – After registering their first CCAA doubleheader sweep on Friday, the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team dropped a twinbill to the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos on Sunday at Otter Baseball Field.  The Otters fell 15-2 in the opener and 7-5 in the nightcap due to a seventh inning rally. After the Broncos jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Otters countered with a single run in their frame on a RBI double by #Andrew Marquardt#.  CSUMB scored four runs on four hits in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead.  Cal Poly Pomona closed the gap with a run in the fifth.
