CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO - DAY 2:
Despite getting on the board first in both games, the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team dropped both games of its doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 28, against Cal State San Bernardino at Arrowhead Credit Union Park. The first game was a terrific pitching duel between senior #Norman Hebert# and CSUSB's Joe Martinez. In the ninth inning, junior #Ryan Chagonjian# led off with a single and freshman #Jace Fanner# came in as a pinch runner. Senior #Steve Mays# then bunted toward the mound and Martinez whirled threw wildly to second base allowing Fanner to advance to third. Senior Andrew DeGarmo was hit by a pitch to force in the go-ahead, unearned run to make it 1-0 Otters. CSUSB's Johnnie Haas hit a two-out, two-run, walk-off home run to take the victory away from the Otters. The Otters once again got on the board first when senior #Shea Davis# singled to begin the first inning of the nightcap. Chagonjian singled up the middle, moving Davis to second.  After advancing to third on a fly out to left field, Davis scored when senior #Matt DeJesus# reached first on a CSUSB error. The Coyotes scored two runs in both the third and fourth frame before putting the game away with a five-run fifth inning. Chagonjian and Davis led the Otters, finishing with two hits on the day.
