Otters Clinch Five-Set Victory Over Cal Poly Pomona

Thomas leads CSUMB with 24 kills

POMONA, Calif.
– After winning the opening two sets, it took a fifth set victory for Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team to clinch the match win against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos on Friday night at Darlene May Gym.

The Otters improve to 13-18 overall and 7-14 in California Collegiate Athletic Association action while the Broncos drop to 11-17, 8-13 in conference play.

"I'm really pleased with how we kept our composure tonight," said head coach #Jody Garry#. "I am very proud of our ability to terminate and compete."

Senior #Alisha Thomas# led the offense, setting a new career high with 24 kills with senior #Kerri Sudarsana# adding 11 kills and a .435 clip.  Sophomore #Rheann Fall# recorded her 17th double-double of the season with 10 kills and 20 digs.  Junior #Dana Grimm# and freshman #Monique Sena# shared setting duties, dishing out 24 and 21 assists respectively.  Senior #Katie Bos# added 15 digs.

The Otters finished with 13 aces while Grimm nabbing a match-high four.

The Broncos were led by Kristin McNeese with 26 kills while Elizabeth Diaz added 16.

CSUMB ends its 2009 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 14, taking on the No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino Cougars at 7 p.m.
