UP NEXT: CSUMB hosts three teams in four day, beginning with non-conference opponent Academy of Art University on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Otters than return to their CCAA schedule, hosting No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, Oct. 9, and Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, Oct. 10.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Otters travel to Chico State on Friday, Oct. 16 and then west to Turlock to compete against Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday, Oct. 17.
PAST WEEKEND: On Friday, Oct. 3, CSUMB won the first set against No. 3 UC San Diego before dropping the next three, 26-28, 25-10, 25-20, 26-24. The next day, the Otters jumped on a plane to Hayward to compete against Cal State East Bay. CSUMB fell to the Pioneers in four sets, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17.
NATIONALLY RANKED: TThe Otters are in the top 100 in the country in three categories; 59th in Digs per set (15.89), 68th in Aces per set (1.80) and 96th in Assists per set (10.95). Sophomore #Rheann Fall# is ranked 22nd in the nation in kills per set, averaging 3.85 after 57 sets.
RANKING UP AGAINST THE CCAA: The Otters are now second in the conference in aces (2.11) and third in digs (15.94) per set. #Rheann Fall# leads the CCAA with 21 aces by averaging .58 a set.
CHASING 1,000: Katie Bos reached her 1,000 career digs milestone on Saturday, Sept 12 against Chico State. The senior is ranked second in the CSUMB record books for digs behind Brittany Etchings (1,304 from 2004-07).
THE URBAN KNIGHTS: This is the Otters' first meeting against the Academy of Art University. The Urban Knights are 15-5 overall and 4-3 in the Pac West, ranking fifth.
THE COYOTES: Cal State San Bernardino (16-0, 9-0 CCAA) has held a No. 2 national ranking since the beginning of the season after finishing second at the 2008 NCAA Division II National Championships.
THE BRONCOS: Cal Poly Pomona (7-9, 4-5 CCAA) fell to Cal State L.A. on Oct. 3 in four-sets after sweeping Cal State Dominguez Hills in three-sets the previous night.
