Fall Sports Game Notes No. 9




UP NEXT:  The Otters travel to Rohnert Park on Friday, Oct. 23 to compete against No. 20 Sonoma State before heading north to Arcata to take on the Lumberjacks of Humboldt State on Saturday, Oct. 24.

LOOKING AHEAD: CSUMB returns home for its final four home games, hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday, Oct. 30, and No. 22 Cal State L.A. on Saturday, Oct. 31.

GAMEDAY PROMOTIONS: Tuesday's match against NDNU has been tabbed at Staff & Faculty Appreciation Night with everyone getting free admission. CSUMB will host Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct 30 as part of the MB For The Cure, Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

PAST WEEKEND: On Friday, Oct. 9, CSUMB dropped a five-set heartbreaker to No. 25 Cal State Stanislaus (25-10, 23-25, 25-27, 25-21, 15-12).  The Otters rebounded with a five-set victory over the Warriors of Cal Poly Stanislaus, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13.

NATIONALLY RANKED: The Otters are in the top 100 in the country in two categories; 67th in Digs per set (15.79) and 79th in Aces per set (1.74). Sophomore Rheann Fall is ranked 42nd in the nation in kills per set, averaging 3.62 after 81 sets.

RANKING UP AGAINST THE CCAA:  The Otters are now second in the conference in aces (1.93) and third in digs (15.8) per set. Rheann Fall leads the CCAA with 23 aces by averaging .53 a set and is 10th in kills per set 3.38.

THE SEAWOLVES: The No. 20 Sonoma State Seawolves (7-14, 3-10 CCAA) were swept by  No. 22 Cal State L.A. on Friday, Oct. 16 before sweeping Cal State Dominguez Hills the next night.

THE LUMBERJACKS: Humboldt State (8-11, 2-9) has lost the last nine of ten matches, with its lone victory a five-set match over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 16.
