CSUMB Wins Five-Set Match Over Cal State Stanislaus

TURLOCK, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team clinched its first CCAA five-set match of the season with a 3-2 victory over the Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday night.  The final scores were 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13.

With the victory, the Otters improved to 8-13 overall and 3-10 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action. The Warriors fell to 8-13, 2-11 in the CCAA.

With a very even CSUMB offense, senior #Kerri Sudarsana# led the Otters with 12 kills. Sophomore #Tiffaney Rigs# added nine kills and tied a season-high with six blocks. Juniors #Dana Grimm# and #Lauren Manzo# each dished out 20 assists while senior #Katie Bos# racked up 27 digs and three aces.

Cal State Stanislaus was led by Lianne Vicchio and Janay Bankston with 18 and 17 kills respectively. With a total of 86 digs, the Wildcats had four players reach double-digits with Amanda Pielstick leading the pack.

The Otters won the battle of blocks, finishing with 12.5 to the Wildcats five.

CSUMB returns home for its final non-conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 20, hosting Notre Dame de Namur at 7 p.m. at the Otter Sports Center.
