Fall Sports Game Notes No. 8
UP NEXT: The Otters travel to Chico State on Friday, Oct. 16, followed by a trip west for a match-up against Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday, Oct. 17.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Otters make a brief stop at the Kelp Bed on Tuesday, Oct. 20, hosting Notre Dame de Namur in a non-conference match before returning to the road. On Friday, Oct. 23 CSUMB travels to Rohnert Park to take on the Seawolves of Sonoma State.
PAST WEEKEND: On Friday, Oct. 9, CSUMB dropped a three-set match to No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino (25-20, 25-22, 25-19). The Otters then saw another five-set match slip away , falling to the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona, 17-25, 25-12, 25-22, 22-25, 16-14.
NATIONALLY RANKED: The Otters are in the top 100 in the country in four categories; 57th in Digs per set (15.95), 88th in Aces per set (1.72), 93rd in Kills per set (11.95) and 95th in Assists per set (11.01). Sophomore #Rheann Fall# is ranked 26th in the nation in kills per set, averaging 3.78 after 68 sets.
RANKING UP AGAINST THE CCAA: The Otters are now second in the conference in aces (1.93) and third in digs (16.07) per set. #Rheann Fall# leads the CCAA with 23 aces by averaging .52 a set and is 8th in kills per set 3.59.
CHASING 1,000: #Katie Bos# reached her 1,000 career digs milestone on Saturday, Sept 12 against Chico State. The senior is ranked second in the CSUMB record books for digs behind Brittany Etchings (1,304 from 2004-07).
THE WILDCATS: The No. 25 Chico State Wildcats (16-5, 7-4 CCAA) dropped a 3-2 match to Cal State L.A. on Friday, Oct. 9 before sweeping Cal State Dominguez Hills the next night. On Sept. 12, the Otters fell in a five-set heartbreaker to the Wildcats, 38-36, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-8.
THE WARRIORS: Cal State Stanislaus (8-11, 2-9) are in a three-way tie for ninth place in the CCAA standings with CSUMB and Humboldt State. The Otters hold a 9-2 all-time record over the Warriors, sweeping them in their last match-up on Sept. 11 at the Kelp Bed.
