Otters display athleticism and toughness against the Coyotes

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball opened up conference play on Friday, Sept. 12 against No. 1 Cal State San Bernardino.  The Otters dropped the match in three sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-12.

The Otters rallied in the middle of the second set after calling a timeout.  Freshman #Rheann Fall# served up six straight points against the Coyotes.

Junior #Alisha Thomas# led the Otters with nine kills.  Junior #Rayna Richardson# and freshman #Melanie Lashbrook# notched three total blocks each. 

The Otters notched three aces against the Coyotes.

Recent National Player of the Week Jessica Granados recorded 14 kills and three blocks.

“I am proud of how we started the match and the fight we showed in the second set,” said head coach Jody Garry. “We have a lot to learn to beat this team but I am confident we have the right athletes to make it happen.”

CSUMB (2-6) hosts No. 23 Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday night at the Kelp Bed. First serve is schedule at 7 p.m.
