SCOUTING THE LADY WARRIORS:
William Jessup picked up its first victory of the young season Thursday night in an exhibition contest against Academy of Arts University, before falling twice in their home tournament to Northwest Christian University and NAIA No. 19 Southern Oregon University. Players to watch: Rebekah Calvert (14.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg), Rachelle Russell (10.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg).

AGAINST CHICO STATE:
The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team opened the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season with an upset over last season's conference champion Chico State, 50-46, on Friday at the Otter Sports Center. Senior #Dana Andrews# led the Otters with 21 points while junior #Helen Suarez# added 11 points and four assists. Junior #Janet Oseguera# pulled down eight boards.
AGAINST CAL STATE STANISLAUS:
Junior #Helen Suarez# scored 22 points and freshman #Devin Riezebos# came off the bench to add a career-best 19 points as the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team fell, 85-79, to the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors on Saturday at the Otter Sports Center in front of a record crowd. Senior #Dana Andrews# recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds. Junior #Denelle Baker# added 13 points and Riezebos pulled down seven rebounds.

Against Chico State: “Tonight we took the first step to being great and that was by believing we can. I am excited for our team; we locked in at the end of the game by getting stops on defense.”
RECORD WATCH:
Senior #Dana Andrews# is about to add another career record to her achievements after her 1,000 point milestone accomplishment on Nov. 15 against University of Mary. Andrews is 11steals shy of current record holder

FRESHMAN PRODUCES:
Rookie center #Devin Riezebos# has started the conference season strong, showing her athleticism and touch over the weekend to the tune of a 76.9-percent showing from the field. While going 2-for-4 from the field for four points against Chico State and 8-for-10 for 16 points against Cal State Stanislaus, Riezebos has made her presence felt as a dependable option down low. Riezebos has also used her athleticism and leaping ability to grab some key rebounds for CSUMB, averaging 8.0 rebounds over the weekend in 22.0 minutes a game.
LETHAL AT FREE THROW LINE:
Since opening the season with a 20-for-25 showing at the charity stripe against University of Mary, junior #Helen Suarez# has gone 13-for-15 (87 percent) against NCAA Division II opponents.
RECORD CROWD:
The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team competed in front of a record crowd of 580 people on Saturday, Dec. 6. CSUMB hosted a homecoming bbq prior to the game and fans piled in afterwards to root for the Otters take on the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors.
MAKING HISTORY:
The 50-46 victory over Chico State on Friday, Dec. 5 was the first time in the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball program's 13 years of existence that the Otters have defeated the Wildcats. Prior to Friday's victory, the closest the Otters have come to victory over Chico State was last year's 73-67 loss at home on Feb. 9, 2008.
