SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team finished the 2008 season with a victory, a 3-1 win over Cal State Stanislaus at the Otter Sports Center. Final scores were 25-14, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23.
Four Otters recorded double digit kills, and junior #Kerri Sudarsana# led the way with 13.
Freshman #Rheann Fall# recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 18 digs. Juniors #Elizabeth Hanna# and #Rayna Richardson# added 11 and 10 kills respectively. Sophomore #Dana Grimm# dished out 44 assists.
The Warriors were led by Lianne Vicchio with 14 kills and 12 digs.
The Otters dominated after taking a 7-3 lead in the first set, capturing a 25-14 win. Hanna and Fall each put down four kills on six attempts without an error.
Sudarsana provided the fire in the second set, recording a .500 clip (7 K, 1 E, 12 TA). The Otters tallied up 17 kills to win set two, 25-21.
The Warriors rallied back to take the third set, 25-20, by hitting .480 despite the Otters serving up six aces.
CSUMB bounced right back in the fourth set, going on a 9-4 run that ended on a kill by senior #Niccole Deneke#. Grimm's final two kills gave the Otters a 25-23 victory.
The Otters outhit the Warriors .276 to .234, with a team-high .410 in the fourth set.
“This is a great win to take into the spring season,” said head coach
Jody Garry.
The Otters wrapped up the 2008 campaign 7-23 overall and 4-16 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) conference.
