CSU Monterey Bay Athletics

After serving as an associate head coach for the men’s team at San Jose City College, Christian Chapman joined the Otter women’s basketball coaching staff as Sarah Hopkins-Chery’s top lieutenant in August of 2023.

Chapman brings extensive coaching experience at multiple levels of basketball. Most recently, he served as associate head coach at SJCC, helping the Jaguars win the CCCAA NorCal Regional with a 26–5 record in 2023.

Much of Chapman’s expertise comes in the area of player development. He is the founder and head of player development for the CC Skills Academy as well as the founder and head coach of the Academy AAU Showcase Team. He has served as a coach and featured trainer at the Adidas Grassroots Elite Basketball Circuit Camps as well as the Stanford Youth Basketball Elite Camps. He has trained several women’s players who have gone on to NCAA Division I and professional basketball careers.

Chapman is a graduate of Cal State East Bay, from where he earned his bachelor’s in sociolgy in 2021.
