SEASIDE, Calif. —
Kai Martin continued his torrid start to the season with two more goals as Cal State Monterey Bay defeated Jessup, 3-1, Thursday afternoon at Cardinale Stadium.
The victory kept the Otters perfect at 2-0-0 on the young season, while Jessup fell to 0-2-1.

Martin, who scored twice in CSUMB's season-opening 4-3 victory over Dominican, added another brace Thursday to give him four goals through the first two matches of the season.
Philip Wolny assisted on each of the Otters' first two goals, while
Mason Ward scored his first goal of the season and added an assist.
CSUMB wasted little time taking control. Martin opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a setup from Wolny to put the Otters ahead 1-0.
Less than 15 minutes later, the Otters doubled their advantage. Wolny again played provider, this time setting up Ward for his first goal of the campaign in the 28th minute to send Monterey Bay into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
The Otters struck almost immediately after the restart. Just one minute into the second half, Ward found Martin, who buried his second goal of the afternoon to push the advantage to 3-0.
Jessup broke through in the 67th minute when Hector Huerta scored off an assist from Kevin Chulu, but the Otters allowed nothing further and closed out the 3-1 victory.
CSUMB held a 13-11 advantage in shots and put six attempts on frame. The Otters also generated eight corner kicks compared with four for the Warriors.
Griffin Welch played all 90 minutes in goal for the Otters, making three saves to earn his second victory of the season.
Through two matches, the Otters have scored seven goals, with Martin accounting for four of them. Wolny has also played a central role in the fast start, adding two assists Thursday after recording a goal and an assist in the opener.
CSUMB will hit the road for the first time this season as the Otters head to Hayward to face Cal State East Bay on Sunday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
