CHICO – The No. 12-ranked Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end, falling to Chico State, 6-1, Friday evening at Nettleton Stadium. After the series opener, the Otters move to 32-11 overall and 17-8 in CCAA play.
CSUMB scored its lone run in the third inning when
Xander Sielken singled up the middle to plate
Bobby Benavidez.
The Otters finished with five hits, while
Noah Zertuche recorded the team's only extra-base hit with a double.
Chico State broke through in the fourth inning, when the Wildcats scored four runs. Keoni Coloma's three-run home run provided the bulk of the damage. The Wildcats added runs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the victory.
Drew Aguiar took the loss (4-2) after allowing four runs on four hits over four innings. Rocco Borrelli earned the win (4-2) with a 7-inning performance, allowing the one run on five hits.
The Otters will look to bounce back tomorrow in a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
