CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team capped off its Southern California road trip with a 65-56 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday afternoon at the Torodome.
The Otter offense was paced by
Jennifer Moreno Ortiz, who posted a team-high 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting while going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. The double-digit performance was her sixth straight and 14th overall on the season.
Malaysia Lucero provided an efficient scoring afternoon, going 6-for-6 from the field and adding 14 points along with five rebounds.
Aajah Slocum turned in her first double-double, scoring 12 points, pulling down a season-high 10 rebounds, and handing out six assists.
The Otters and Toros were deadlocked at 13-13 after one quarter, and Monterey Bay stayed within reach through the first three periods, entering the final frame down 41-38, before CSUDH outscored CSUMB, 24-18 in the fourth.
Monterey Bay held Dominguez Hills to 40-percent shooting and fired at a 47-percent clip, posting 50-percent or over from the floor in three of the four quarters.
The Otters will return home to play their final two games of the season at the Kelp Bed as they welcome Cal State East Bay and San Francisco State. The contest against the Gators will mark Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 21.
