Otters Check in at No. 8 in the Country in NCBWA Poll

CSUMB faces Northwest Nazarene this week

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team has cracked the top-10, checking in at No. 8 in the country in the initial rankings released by the NCBWA.
 
CSUMB is off to a 5-2 start this season, winning both of its series against nationally ranked Point Loma on the road and then taking three of four against Azusa Pacific this past weekend.
 
The Otters currently rank second in the conference in hitting (.307), are third in pitching (3.57 ERA) and lead the league in fielding (.981).
 
Monterey Bay won three games in its four-game set against Azusa Pacific, scoring 40 runs in the series.
 
Junior James Starkus won multiple awards, garnering CCAA and NCBWA West Region Player of the Week accolades after batting .692 (9-for-13) with three doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI.
 
CSUMB continues its homestand, welcoming Northwest Nazarene for a four-game series with the first game scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m.
