BOULDER CITY, Nev. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team capped an impressive weekend and Fall schedule at the Las Vegas Desert Classic on Sunday, climbing two spots on the final day to finish fifth in a loaded 16-team field at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Otters finished the 54-hole tournament at 10-over-par 874 (297-285-292), placing ahead of six nationally ranked programs, including No. 7 UT Tyler, No. 8 Lincoln Memorial, No. 11 Cal State San Marcos, No. 18 Point Loma, No. 38 Washburn and No. 46 Westminster.

Jim Ragan said. "I was really proud of how the team played when conditions became difficult late in the round today. They stepped up and finished ahead of a tight pack of good teams. Khivi had another strong top-10 finish. She has been very much in control of her game this entire fall."
After opening the tournament tied for ninth, Monterey Bay steadily climbed the leaderboard, firing a 3-under 285 in Saturday's second round before closing with a 4-over 292 on Sunday. The Otters finished just six strokes behind fourth-place No. 20 Cal State LA and recorded one of their strongest performances of the fall against a field featuring 11 nationally ranked teams.
Khivi Kaur led Monterey Bay with a top-10 individual finish, tying for eighth at 3-under-par 213 (73-68-72). Kaur's performance was highlighted by a 4-under 68 in Saturday's second round, helping spark the Otters' climb up the standings. She closed with an even-par 72 on Sunday to secure her place among the tournament's top finishers.
Audrey Cheng delivered the Otters' best final round, firing a 2-under 70 to climb into a tie for 33rd at 6-over 222 (78-74-70). Cheng improved in each round of the tournament, finishing with a 2-under 34 on the back nine Sunday.
Mia Golovich added another steady performance, tying for 22nd at 3-over 219 (73-72-74). Golovich opened the tournament with consecutive rounds of 73 and 72 before closing with a 2-over 74.
Morgan Pittman finished 49th at 11-over 227 (76-71-80), highlighted by a 1-under 71 in the second round.
Jayden Peters rounded out the Otter lineup, tying for 53rd at 13-over 229 (75-78-76).
Top-ranked Dallas Baptist claimed the team championship at 19-under par, followed by No. 3 St. Mary's (Texas) at 15-under. Host No. 17 Missouri-St. Louis finished third at 1-under, while No. 20 Cal State LA placed fourth at 4-over.
