HAYWARD, Calif. — Behind a pair of top-five performances from Audrey Cheng and Mia Golovich, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team sits in third place following the opening two rounds of the 2026 East Bay Fall Invitational on Monday at Stonebrae Country Club.

The Otters posted rounds of 16-over and 17-over to finish the opening day at 33-over par, just three strokes behind second-place No. 21 Point Loma (+30). No. 7 UT Tyler leads the 13-team field at 24-over heading into Tuesday's final round.

"We had a solid first day on a really difficult golf course," CSUMB head coach Jim Ragan said. "The team played steady all day and hung in there to keeps us competitive going into the final round tomorrow. Audrey and Mia both did a great job today, playing two strong rounds of golf."

Cheng highlighted the opening day for Monterey Bay, finishing tied for second at 2-over par through 36 holes. After opening with a 4-over round, Cheng fired a 2-under-par second round to climb the leaderboard and move within three strokes of individual leader Ellaclair Leedom of Cal State San Marcos, who sits at 1-under par.

Golovich also delivered an impressive performance, finishing the day tied for fifth at 3-over par. She opened the tournament with a 2-under-par round before carding a 5-over second round, giving CSUMB two golfers among the top five heading into the final 18 holes.
