SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team continued its offensive prowess by scoring four goals for the second straight match, this time downing Cal Poly Humboldt, 4-1, Thursday evening at Cardinale Stadium.
The Otters have now won three straight, building momentum into CCAA play with a 3-2 record after non-conference action.
Sophomore
Ramiro Corrales Jr. converted another penalty kick to start the scoring for the Otters in the 19th minute.
Five minutes later, senior
Eric Vazquez-Acosta found the back of the net off a set-piece from Corrales Jr., and a quick pass from junior
Damon Smith.
CSUMB would add two more in the second half as Vazquez-Acosta struck again, this time in the 77th minute off another Corrales Jr. assist.
Newcomer
Omar Arechiga-Martinez capped off the scoring in the 80th minute from an assist from fellow freshman
Philip Wolny.
Senior keeper
Jerry Godfryd allowed one goal and was credited with five saves. The Otters outshot the Lumberjacks, 21-12.
CSUMB opens conference play next week against Cal Poly Pomona. The two teams will meet on Friday, Oct. 3, with kickoff set at 7 p.m.
