Otters Shutout Jessup University for First Win of the Season

CSUMB blanks the Warriors, 1-0

ROCKLIN, Calif. – A Julian Lomeli goal and clean sheet from Jerry Godfryd secured a 1-0 victory on the road against Jessup University at Warrior Field. The victory is the first on the season for the Monterey Bay men's soccer team as the Otters move to 1-2-0.
 
Lomeli scored his first goal of the season, finishing the helper from senior Eric Vazquez-Acosta in the 72nd minute. The junior fired off two shots as senior Jose Rios Lara paced the Otters with three.
 
In his first start of the season in goal, Godfryd recorded the shutout. The senior was credited with two saves.
 
The physical match featured 17 fouls and nine yellow cards. The Otters were out-shot, 12-9.
 
The Otters will return to Cardinale Stadium to open a four-match homestand, beginning with Vanguard University on Sunday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
