SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team found itself on the wrong end of a high-scoring match, falling to visiting Menlo College, 5-3, Sunday afternoon at Cardinale Stadium.
The Oaks raced out to a quick 4-0 lead, entering the intermission with a 3-0 advantage. The Otters scored all three of their goals in the second half, with two coming off penalty kicks from the right foot of Ramiro Corrales, Jr.
His first tally came in the 62nd minute, and then he buried his second five minutes later, finding the net in the right upper-v.
CSUMB capped off its scoring when
Jose Rios Lara followed an
Andres Perez shot to give the Otters their third and final goal of the match.
The Otters outshot the Oaks, 14-11, putting seven on frame. Menlo committed 15 fouls to CSUMB's 11 in the physical contest.
The Otters hit the road to face Jessup University on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
