Otters and Penguins Finish Even at 1-1

CSUMB records its second straight draw

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team capped off its home opening week with a 1-1 draw against Dominican University on Wednesday afternoon at Cardinale Stadium. The Otters move to 1-0-2 on the young season.
 
The Otters fell behind quickly as the Penguins scored in the second minute of the match when Megan Clapinski scored just 1:19 in, but CSUMB was able to even the score in the second half.
 
Senior midfielder Danielle Castro secured the draw when she followed up her own shot and buried her first goal of the season in the 65th minute.
 
The two teams were also even in the shot category as both fired off 12 shots. Juliana Dow paced the Otters with three shots. Olivia Wynn made four saves in 45 minutes of action in goal in the second half.
 
CSUMB will head to the Pacific Northwest to face Western Washington on Thursday, September 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
