NAMPA – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball season ended Friday evening as the Otters fell to host Northwest Nazarene, 7-3, in the second game of the NCAA West Super Regional at Elmore W. Vail Field.
CSUMB caps off its season at 39-19, equaling the program record in wins and reached its third straight Super Regional. The Otters claimed their fourth straight CCAA regular season title and third straight tournament championship.
The Nighthawks started the contest with a single run in the first but the Otters evened the score in the third when
Jacob Dressler lined a single to left to score
Max Farfan from second.
The two teams remained in a pitcher's duel until NNU scored two in the fifth and pulled away with four in the ninth.
CSUMB showed some fight in the final frame as the designated home team, scoring twice and having the game-tying run on-deck, but could not push anymore runs across.
Nick Maestas, who entered the game late, drove in both runs when he singled up the middle to plate
Cole Murchison and
Dominic Felice.
The Otters were out-hit 13-9 as Dressler batted 2-for-5. Farfan and Felice capped off their career with a run scored and two hits each.
