SAN RAFAEL – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team dropped its first contest of the season, 65–47, on the road at Dominican University on Tuesday night in the Conlan Center.
The Otters opened the game with 14 first-quarter points but trailed early after Dominican put up 24 in the opening period. CSUMB struggled to find consistent offense in the second quarter, scoring seven points and going into halftime down 36–21.
The Otters picked up their pace after the break, posting 12 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.
CSUMB finished the night shooting 22-for-59 from the field and 1-for-10 from three. The team continued to work inside, scoring 36 points in the paint and collecting 44 total rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end.
Newcomer
Riley Walls paced the squad with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, grabbing seven boards and recording three steals.
The Otters will continue on the road when they head north to face the University of San Francisco on Sunday, Nov. 30. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
