HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cal State East Bay on the road at the Chabot College Soccer Field Sunday afternoon.
Alejandro Zarate scored both goals for the Pioneers, starting the offensive in the ninth minute and then burying the game-winner in the 73rd minute.

Sylas Sells scored the lone Otter goal in the 41st minute. The goal was his fourth of the season, which is now tied for the team lead.
In his first career start in goal for CSUMB, newcomer
Jacob Aiona was credited with seven saves.
The Otters were outshot 17-14, with
Eric Vazquez-Acosta leading the squad with five tallies, putting one on goal.
CSUMB will return home for a pair of matches next weekend. The Otters open the home slate against UC Merced on Friday, Oct. 24, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
