SAN FRANCISCO – 
Eric Vazquez-Acosta scored early in the contest and the Otter defense did the rest as the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team (3-1-2) wrapped up non-conference play with a 1-0 victory over San Francisco State at Cox Stadium.
 
Vazquez-Acosta finished a 
Hugo Vargas-Rios assist in the 10
th minute for the only scoring in the match.
 
The goal is all the Otters would need as 
Sean Mattivi earned the clean sheet, making two saves to earn his first victory of the season.
 
Both teams fired off nine shots and the Otters tallied eight corners.
 
 
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS… CSUMB capped off its non-conference slate with a 3-1-2 record. Over the last two seasons the Otters are 7-2-4 in non-conference play and posted four shutouts.

It was a really good team effort from the lads and probably should have scored more in the second half. THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters open CCAA play next week with a pair of matches on the road. CSUMB will south to Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, Oct. 4, and then play nationally ranked Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, Oct. 6.
