SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team (2-1-2) closed out its non-conference home schedule with a 3-3 draw Sunday evening against UC Merced at Cardinale Stadium.
The Otters carried a 3-1 lead early into the second half but the Bobcats scored twice to leave Seaside with a draw.
After the Bobcats struck first off a Daniel Borges goal in the 12
th minute the Otters quickly responded with a pair of goals to seize the first half lead.
Ronaldo Guardarrama drove home his second goal of the season when he one-timed a
Kane Ritchie pass under the crossbar in the 17
th minute.
Hugo Vargas-Rios then blasted the go-ahead goal from 20-yards out just over a minute later, threading the upper-v on the left side. The tally was the first of the season for the senior.
The Otters carried the momentum into the second half when
Will Seargeant headed an
Alvaro Oseguera Meza cross past Bobcat keeper Angel Joaquin in the 53
rd minute.
UC Merced scored in the 57
th minute and Roberto Ceja tallied the equalizer in the 71
st.
CSUMB outshot UC Merced, 14-10, and forced seven corner kicks.
