Extra Inning Heroics Lifts Otters to Championship Saturday

CSUMB scores five runs in final two innings to down Cal Poly Pomona

POMONA, Calif. - Down three entering the ninth inning, the Otter bats awakened as they scored four runs in the frame and another one in the 10th to take down host Cal Poly Pomona, 5-4, at the CCAA Tournament played at Scolinos Field.

Jaden Sheppard and Sergio Solis smacked two-run singles to give the Otters the lead in the ninth and then in extra innings, Chase Lindemann scored what proved to be the game-winner by driving in Max Farfan.

Ryan Io (4-0) earned his second win in as many days, throwing 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief.

Cal Poly Pomona pitcher Evan Adolphus stymied the CSUMB bats as he allowed just three hits in his eight-inning start.

Once Adolphus left the game the Otter bats instantly took advantage of the Broncos bullpen, scoring all five of their runs on six hits in the final two innings.

Lindemann, who was the hero in extra innings led CSUMB with three hits. Solis and Sheppard both had a pair of RBIs.

The Otters will play in the championship game tomorrow at 2 p.m.
