Martin Breaks Otter Assist Record

CSUMB falls at Biola, 11-7

LA MIRADA, Calif. – In just her first season in the pool for the Otters, Stella Martin has made her mark. The Fresno native handed out five assists to move her season total to 49, breaking the program record of 47.

The Otters were on the short end of an 11-7 decision on the road at Biola on Friday at the La Mirada Aquatics Center.

The two teams opened the game with three goals each in the first quarter, but Biola added three more in the second to enter the half with a 6-4 lead.

CSUMB rallied after the break, scoring three goals in the third, to even the score at seven, before Biola found the net four times in the fourth to secure the victory.

Allyson Ainsworth scored three goals on seven shots. Grace Mensing was credited with 16 saves.

Martin was involved with nearly every goal, assisting on five of the seven tallies for the Otters. The newcomer has now recorded two or more assists in 12 games this season and has handed out five or more in four contests.

The Otters will return to La Mirada for the Western Water Polo Association Championship on Friday, April 26.
