SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team scored six runs in the final two innings to pull out a 9-8 victory over Cal Poly Pomona, Saturday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex. The win moves CSUMB to 8-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
The top of the Otter lineup accounted for seven of the 11 hits on the day as
JJ Engman continued his hot play in the series with a 3-for-5 effort at the plate.
Brady Miguel batted 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while
Chase Lindemann also collected two hits and scored three runs.
The Otters raced out to an early 3-0 lead but the Broncos seized the advantage after scoring three runs in the sixth. CSUMB clawed back and evened the series by plating three runs in the seventh and another three in the eighth to claim the victory.
Kyle Barileau provided the game-winning hit as he roped a two-run single through the right side to score Engman and Miguel.
Aidan Lee struck out six in 3 2/3 innings and
Nico Hartojo earned the win, closing out the final two innings.
The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 11 a.m.
