SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team raced back into the game with a 20-point fourth quarter but could not close the gap as the Otters dropped their home finale, 68-63, to Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday in the Kelp Bed.
On senior day, two of the Otter seniors paced the team against the Jacks.
Amelia Smith led CSUMB with 14 points and added five rebounds.
Sarah Shaw nearly recorded a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Abbey Hadsell chipped in 11 points on the strength of three three-pointers.
The Otters came out of the gate sluggish, with just seven points in the opening quarter. CSUMB rallied to close out the half with 21 points to enter the intermission just down one at 29-28.
After giving up 26 points in the third, the Otters shot 57-percent in the fourth and pulled within two with 18 seconds left but could not pull ahead of the Jacks.

SHAW KEEPS CLIMBING… With her 12 points on Saturday,
Sarah Shaw is now 13
th all-time on the scoring list with 543 points. She surpassed Julie Heurung and her 533 career points. Next on the list is Krista Herr at 558 points.
SHAW CLOSING IN ON TOP-5…
Sarah Shaw is now two rebounds away from surpassing CSUMB Hall of Famer Dana Andrews (2006-09) for No. 5 all-time. Andrews sits in the fifth spot with 473 career rebounds.
