Otters Make History with 2-1 Victory Over San Francisco State

CSUMB clinches first ever CCAA Tournament berth

SEASIDE, Calif. – For the first time in program history the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team will advance to the CCAA Tournament after clinching their inaugural berth on the strength of a 2-1 victory over San Francisco State on Thursday at Cardinale Stadium.

Freshman Miye Kodama drilled the game-winner in the 86th minute off a setup from Tiger Rendon.

Rendon was also on the giving end of the first goal as the junior assisted on Audrey Reyna's fourth of the season in the 19th minute, answering the San Francisco State goal just two minutes later.

The Otters were on the attack all game long, out-shooting the Gators 30-1. CSUMB also tallied nine corner kicks. Gianna Foss paced the Otters with six shots.

CSUMB will open the CCAA Tournament on the road as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Cal State LA on Sunday, Nov. 10.
