Otters Season Ends With Sweep At Stanislaus

Wahl Climbs to 13th on career kills list in final match

TURLOCK, Calif. — A tough season for the Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team came to an equally tough end as postseason-bound Stanislaus State took a 25–12, 25–17, 25–19 decision Saturday afternoon in Fitzpatrick Arena.

Senior Jackie Wahl (Palm Desert HS) and Kennedy Adams (Temecula HS) led the Otter offense with nine and seven kills respectively. But the Stanislaus defense shutdown the rest of the attack with no other Otter generating more than four kills.

As happened Friday evening in Chico, CSUMB got off to a painfully slow start and managed just three offensive points—two kills by Wahl and one by Adams—over the first 25 rallies as the Warriors raced to an 18–7 lead. A 3–2 advantage early in the second set proved to be the only lead the Otters would hold in the match.
 

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… a 6–0 run gave Stanislaus an 8–2 lead to open the third set. The Otters never got within four points of the lead over the balance of the match.

WAHL FINISHES 13TH IN KILLS… With 18 total kills this weekend, Jackie Wahl finishes her time as an Otter ranked No. 13 on the career kills with 577. She passed both Kerri Sudarsana (565) and Amber Tygart (568) this weekend.

MORE FROM WAHL… Jackie Wahl left her mark in several other places in the Otter career record book. She'll leave the Kelp Bed No. 15 in points (660.5) and No. 23 in digs (495).

MIKAYLA FROM THE BLOCK… Mikayla Nolte ends her CSUMB career as one of the Top 10 blockers in Otter history. She just missed reaching 200 blocks for her career, finishing No. 6 in the Otter record book with 199. Her 44 block solos rank No. 5 while her 155 block assists rank No. 9.
