SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team exploded for a season-high three goals to earn a huge 3-1 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday at Cardinale Stadium. The victory improves the Otters record to 6-2-7 overall and 3-1-5 in CCAA play.
Jaedyn Sanders scored a pair of goals and
Evelyn Sandoval assisted on all three goals to pace the CSUMB attack.
The Otters came out of the gate aggressive and it showed with two first half goals. Junior
Audrey Reyna started the onslaught as she volleyed home a Sandoval cross inside the six in the eighth minute. The tally was her third of the season.
Eight minutes later Sanders scored her first goal of the contest as she buried a beautiful setup from Sandoval on a one-touch by the penalty spot.
The Otters expanded their lead to 3-0 when Sanders headed home her second goal of the game in the 53
rd minute. The junior transfer leads the team with four goals on the season.
CSUMB outshot CSUDH, 14-8, as 10 of the shots came in the first half. Reyna fired off a game-high four shots.
Nylah Mirshafiei was credited with two saves.
The Otters will close out the weekend against Cal State LA on Sunday, Nov. 3. Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m. at Cardinale Stadium.
