No. 7 Pomona Scores Late In Each Half, wins 2-0

Otters yield goals in the 41st, 83rd minutes

POMONA, Calif. — No. 7 ranked Cal Poly Pomona scored goals late in each half to earn a 2–0 victory over visiting Cal State Monterey Bay Sunday afternoon at Kellogg Stadium.

Mike Moser scored an unassisted goal from well outside the box to give the Broncos the lead just before the whistle ending a first half mostly controlled by the hosts. The Otters had the better of play after the interval, but another shot from distance, this one by Max Laguna, found its way home seven minutes from time to end Otter hopes.

Hugo Vargas-Rios (Pajoaro Valley HS/Cabrillo College) led the CSUMB offense with two shots. Redshirt freshman Sean Mattivi (San Antonio, Texas/Reagan HS) made five saves in goal.

The Otters return home to host Stanislaus State Friday (Oct. 11) in Cardinale Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. as the opener of doubleheader action with the Otter women.
