SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team (4-1-7, 1-0-5 CCAA) extended its school-record unbeaten streak to 11 matches after playing Cal State East Bay to a 1-1 draw, Sunday afternoon at Cardinale Stadium.
Freshman
Gianna Foss headed home her first career Otter goal off a free kick from
Tiger Rendon in the 75
th minute to even the score at 1-1.
Mika Sayfurahman opened the scoring by finishing an Otter turnover far-post from outside the box to hand the Pioneers the early first half lead.
CSUMB outshot CSUEB, 14-13, with Foss firing off a team-high four shots.
Nylah Mirshafiei equaled her season-high with six saves.
The Otters kept the pressure on East Bay goalkeeper Ashley Levi, but were unable to net the game-winner.
CSUMB has allowed one goal or less in 11 of their 12 matches this season. The Otters allowed one goal or less on 13 occasions last season.
CSUMB will hit the road for a pair of matches next weekend. The Otters will face Sonoma State on Friday, Oct. 25, and then head to Cal Poly Humboldt for a Sunday matinee.
