Dominican Takes Defense Battle From Otters

Penguins score in 77th minute for 1-0 decision

SEASIDE, Calif. — Visiting Dominican University scored 14 minutes from time to take a 1–0 decision from Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.

Marissa Ray flicked home an Abigail Estes free kick in the 77th minute to break a scoreless duel dominated by defense. The teams combined to take just 14 total shots, seven for each side.

Aubrey McKessy (Canyon Country/Canyon HS) made a team season–high six stops for the Otters. Dominican's Rylee Buesing saved all five CSUMB shots on frame to earn the shutout.

CSUMB returns to action with a rare Monday matinee when Westmont College makes it's first–ever visit to the Otter Sports Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
