Drew Williams Debuts for the Grand Junction Jackalopes

Former Otter second baseman makes professional debut in the Pioneer League

August 03, 2023

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. –
For much of the historic 2023 season for Cal State Monterey Bay Baseball, Drew Williams led the offensive charge. The standout infielder out of Hollister led the Otters with 78 hits (4th in program history), 53 runs scored (T-5th in program history), 22 doubles (program record), 13 home runs (T-3rd in program history) and 75 RBI (program record). Following his incredible season, Williams signed on with the Grand Junction Jackalopes of the Pioneer League, where he made his debut on July 26.

In his first 11 contests, Williams has recorded seven hits and scored six times. On July 30, he launched his first professional home run, a no-doubt three run blast against the Rocky Mountain Vibes.

"We are all extremely proud and excited for Drew as he starts his professional career. Drew had one of the best individual seasons of any Otter in program history and he was a big part of our 2023 championship team." noted CSUMB Head Baseball Coach Walt White. "Drew's presence in the lineup and within our program overall will be missed, but he has made a long standing impression on our program and his teammates. We look forward to following and supporting his career.  Drew knows that he always has a home here, and we look forward to welcoming him back when we see him this fall."

Drew is far from the first Otter to play in the Pioneer League. Many former Otters, including Jason Ajamian, Kokko Figuerido, Ethan McRae, Nick Parent and Ubaldo Romo have made appearances in the Pioneer League.
