Otter Men Return To NCAA Regional Championship

CSUMB looking to return to the national championship for 8th time

April 28, 2023

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf returns to the NCAA Division II Championship field for the 14th consecutive season. The Otters were selected as one of the 10 teams from the West Region to participate to the NCAA West/South Central Regional May 11–13 at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park.

At a minimum, the top three teams from each of the four regional tournaments will advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament May 22–26 in Ohio. CSUMB has advanced to the NCAA Championship Tournament seven times in the past 11 seasons, winning the NCAA title in 2011.

"This is my 15th year at CSUMB and I must say this has been one of the more trying years," says CSUMB Head Coach Jason Owen. "I'm very pleased to make it to another NCAA Regional as this year the West Region was as tough as I can remember. I believe we are starting to peak now, so hopefully we can put together three solid rounds and punch our ticket to the NCAA finals."

The Otters are coming off a second place finish at last week's CCAA Championship Tournament, where the finished one stroke behind Cal State San Marcos for the crown. Sophomores Jack Deaner (2nd place) and Liam Allder (4th) earned all–tournament honors.

San Marcos will join CSUMB at the Regional as will fellow CCAA members Sonoma State, Chico State, Cal State San Bernardino and Stanislaus State.
